ABOUT NAMES AND PEN NAMES

Hi, peeps! How are you doing?! Hope you're all fine! It's CampNaNo for those who're participating (not me, though) so i really hope everyone's writing is going alright!!

Today's post is one that nearly kept me up all night yesterday. I've tried writing it several times and failed *hugely*, but i'm finally doing it. Now.

I created this blog on June 10th. I introduced myself as Ayra Lynn and told you about myself.

I'd always wanted to have a blog like this one. Truly. During the past months I've had the pleasure of reading some amazing bloggers and I simply got inspired to have my own.

So i gave myself a pen name.

Arya Lynn.

So here's the great revelation: it's not my real name.

*sorry*

I feel hugely ashamed for having lied like this. I'll understand if you all choose to run away now or something. I get it.

I joined this community with a pen name.

*sorry* *sorry* *SORRY*

So here they go, two enormous words: i'm sorry i lied

Maybe you're thinking it's no biggie. Perhaps you're about to say it's nothing and you get it. Or maybe you'll look away and shame on me blah blah blah.

I just wanted to be honest because, if i'm going to do this, there'll be no more pen names.

The only lie, however, was my name. When i told you all about myself, my reasons for joining the blogsphere and who i am as a person, every word was true. I am that dreamer, writer and reader i said i was. I am the person i've let you see through my posts, tweets and sentences. I am that.

My name: Julieta.

You can call me Juls, if you want.

Julieta. Juliette. Juli. Juls.

So why did i use a pen name? Honestly, no idea. Maybe for the old times romantic's sake. Who knows? I do know i don't want it to be a thing anymore. So i'm getting rid of it.

  1. I love both of your names Arya and Julietta! :)

My name Anna is real and the two last initials are true (minus the fact that my middle name is not official)

And don't worry about it :) Most of us bloggers go by pen names, but I still loved hearing your real name. <3 I understand exactly how you feel...I don't feel comfortable changing my identity so I strive to be me as much as I can, to each one it is a personal choice. I'm so happy to see you back!

  2. Hi, Juliette! I love the name variation of your name-- double t's squished in the e's is much more appealing than just having one follow one other.

Don't feel so bad about going under a pen name! Like Anna said, many in the blogosphere have nom de plumes-- that's actually how I started, because I had to protect my identity for the sake of privacy reasons now shedded away since I'm a bit older.

I think pen names are interesting, honestly. Even if it isn't someone's true name, the pen name one choices does shed a bit of light on their personality, and honestly, when I first read your psydenoum was Arya Lynn, I still love the name. And even though your first several posts were posted under Arya Lynn, that doesn't mean you lied, because what you wanted to express and all the important parts-- wanting to write because you're a dreamer--was in your words.

I can't wait to see you back in the community in full swing. <3

Hahha loved your description of my name lol <3
Thanks!! That means a lot! Yup...
Yes, that's true. I guess there's also a history in my pen name, you know? There's a reason for why I chose it.
      THANKS!! Reading that was great!!

  3. There you are, Arya!! I somehow managed to lose the link for your blog and have been wondering where it went!

I actually blog under a pen name as well (Catherine Hawthorn). While Catherine is techically part of my name, the Hawthorn is a random surname that I really liked. I do so to maintain some privacy and my last name isn't an easy one either. Don't feel bad about it! Even published authors use pen names.

  4. I use a pen name. Ivie isn't my real name. I wanted protection and privacy from the stalkers and creepers of the non-minecraft variety. (I'm terrible at jokes.)

Never be ashamed to use a pen name. I don't even think its a lie. That name was something you liked. It was a part of you. From what you said, everything about your personality was real.

I'm new, but your blog is beautiful. Amazing job.
